Board Game Manufacturing for Australia

Boards, boxes, punchboards, tokens, rulebooks and cards — printed, assembled, and delivered ready to sell in 7–14 working days.

Most people searching for a board game manufacturer end up looking at publishers, distributors or factories in China. We're none of those. We're a manufacturer: you bring the game, we produce the physical product and put it in a box.

That includes the awkward parts. A board game isn't one item, it's a dozen — and the difficulty is rarely printing any single component. It's getting the board, the cards, the punchboards, the rulebook and the box to arrive together, fit properly, and get assembled without someone spending a fortnight on their living room floor.

What we manufacture

Where your job gets made

We produce through facilities in Melbourne and Auckland. Which one runs your job depends on order size and current workload, and we'll tell you which before you commit.

Board games are the category where this matters most. They have more components than anything else we make, and some larger-format items — big folding boards and certain box sizes in particular — can only be produced at specific facilities. We'll be straight with you about what gets made where, and about anything that has to be sourced rather than made.

If a component has to come from offshore because of its size, we'll say so up front and build the freight into the timeline. We'd rather quote a longer honest schedule than a short one we can't hold.

Why local matters more for board games than for cards

With a deck of cards, offshore manufacturing is mostly a question of time and minimum order. With a board game it's also a question of risk.

A board game has many components, and every one of them is a chance for something to be slightly wrong — a board that doesn't fold flat, tokens that don't punch cleanly, an insert that doesn't fit the box. Finding that out after a container has crossed the Pacific is an expensive way to learn.

Producing closer to home means you can see a physical sample early, hold the actual box, and fix problems while fixing them is still cheap.

Minimums and turnaround

Board games take longer than cards because there are more components and an assembly stage. We'll give you a realistic timeline up front rather than an optimistic one.

We're indie-friendly on quantity. If you're producing a first run, or a fixed number for a programme or an event, we'd rather quote it honestly than push you into a volume you don't need.

Tell us the component list and the quantity and we'll come back with both a price and the practical constraints.

Frequently asked questions

Can you produce a single copy or a very small run?

Yes — see game prototype printing for playtest copies and short runs.

Will my game be made in Australia or New Zealand?

Depends on the components, the quantity and current workload. We'll tell you before you commit, and we'll tell you if any part has to be sourced from further afield.

Do you make custom inserts?

Yes. Tell us the components and we'll advise on what holds them properly without inflating the box size.

Can you do wooden or plastic pieces?

Our own production covers printed and die-cut components. For moulded pieces we'll be straight with you about what we source versus make.

Do you handle fulfilment?

We can ship to you, or discuss delivery direct to a distributor or event. For crowdfunding runs, producing in Australasia means no container and no customs for Australian and New Zealand backers.

Who owns the artwork and the game?

You do, entirely. We print it; we don't claim any rights over your game or your files.
